Listen for What She Tells You

Gallery 310, February 9th – 15th

This installation is an exploration of the divine feminine in Christian faith traditions.  As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka Mormons) the belief in a heavenly Mother as well as a heavenly Father is central to our understanding of Deity. Regardless of this central doctrine, not much is known or spoken of in regards to Her, and so this work is an attempt to create a space where introspection and discovery can be focused on Her. Plants and trees are often associated with the divine feminine, so this was the basis of the visuals, and the apparatus used was chosen for its foggy, unclear ways it mitigates the images. In doing so, I wanted to have a defined space to situate the exploration of the divine feminine.
