In the series What You See, I explore my own feelings of isolation and the fluidity of loneliness and contentment. By positioning myself as the subject, the image-maker, and the voyeur, I attempt to subvert the voyeur-gaze paradigm. I use the mirror to demonstrate self-reflection and spike the camera to portray me looking in on myself. I move around my space following light and re-examining the banality of the rituals I conduct in different constructed scenes. The series plays like a lucid dream, as I work to gain control over the narrative of my environment, and simultaneously examine what I see.
